This thing works GREAT!!!! I went from 0 service to 4 out of 5 bars of service with this thing. However, there are two things you need to know to get that kind of performance, so I will tell you those two things, and then post a how-to for how I set mine up.
1) You have to research which bands the booster will boost and compare them to which bands your cell phone provider (and your specific cell phone) uses. all websites sell different boosters for different bands and carriers.
2) The antenna is DIRECTIONAL, which means you need to point it in the direction of the tower(s) you are going to be using. If you don't, it can drastically affect how well it works (or doesn't).
I live in a rural area with horrific cell coverage. My nearest LTE tower was 10.5 miles away through dense evergreens on the other side of a hill. I was sick of answering my cell phone and trying to guess the missing words in my garbled conversation before the call dropped completely. If the call was important I would have to get in my truck and drive 5 miles down the road to try again. I tried network extenders. I can’t express my disappointment enough about network extenders. I seriously wish I had installed this 4G booster a long time ago and saved the wasted money from the network extenders.
The installation is straight forward, not easy but not quantum physics. It requires planning ahead and a little elbow grease and patience. I cannot stress the patience part enough! I was fortunate to have an open RG6 cable running from my attic to my basement. This sped the whole installation up. I ran all the wires and did a test placement of the indoor and outdoor antenna the first day. I was already receiving a better signal. The next day i installed outdoor and indoor antennas in their permanent spots. On the third day, with the help of a friend, slowly moved the external antenna, degree by degree until I got the signal I wanted. I was lucky that another reviewer had mentioned that even the tiniest adjustment could make a huge difference, he was right. I had 2 to 3 bars and I would’ve been happy with that but I kept at it , patience, lots of it, all of a sudden I moved the antenna back less than a degree, rechecked, 3 to 4 bars of perfectly clear, wonderful cell signal. Everyone agrees it is night and day. I don’t mind answering my cell phone now. I am very happy with my purchase, it was worth it for me.
I have mixed feelings about this product. The set up is difficult because you have to try it all over on the inside of the house to find the best spot for you to get more than 1 bar of service. After setting up the outside antenna towards the cell tower, I used trial and error placing the inside pieces around my entire house. I finally found a spot where the signal booster will give me 4 bars of cell service but I have to be standing about a foot in front of it. When I called customer support to help fix the issue I was told it ranges up to 300 square meters to give service but that does not mean it will go that far... So basically if it only gives me a around 700 feet coverage. But, I guess that's okay since it at least improves the signal reception.
I live in a remote area and my options for internet service is limited to one carrier and it was horrible at best! My cell service was not much better. I was paying nearly $500 per month for three lines of service with unlimited everything and internet that was very slow and unreliable. I purchased this booster to boost my cell signal so I could utilize the hotspot feature with my cell provider and the results were miraculous! The boost in signal makes a world of difference. It was easy to install, directions were clear, and the videos that they provide explained it all. We received the package in two days, installed it on the weekend and Sunday was the best day ever! My husband was so impressed, he said that maybe we should send them some more money, because he thought it was that good! If you struggle with cell service, this could definitely be your answer! Thanks Cell booster Australia.
The install is easy to understand however the hardest part is getting up on the roof or side of the house at my age I'm not getting on ladders so you have to hire out. But I have had either one bar or No Service msgs for 2 yrs after we put the install on, I now have 3 and 4 bars on my iPhone.....never had before. So, it works!
Works very well. We live in a valley and get poor reception. We get 2 bars of 4g outside and none inside, may a little 3g of we were lucky. We couldn't make calls or send text without it taking forever or breaking up. After installing we are getting reliable 4g speed and signal through the house and are getting 20 to 30 mbps download speeds. Calls are perfect and texts send immediately. I used a 10 foot section of PVC to mount the antenna on the house to get a little higher away from the metal roof. I also had to adjust the direction of the antenna several times to get the best signal. Great item and would buy again if ever needed.
I’ll start by saying that 5 or 6 years ago I bought the prior version of this booster. I installed it at my house, where I had very bad cell reception inside, but outside or at an upstairs window I got OK reception. I bought this version for the similar directional antenna, better gain, and the larger coverage area for inside my new home. Last year I moved, and the old booster stayed at the old house. For the last 3 months I have struggled with dropped calls, poor data rates, loss of data connectivity. I needed to solve the same problems I had before, so I went with a brand that lasted me 4 years or more and did a wonderful job the whole time.
First, I did a dry run or ‘soft test’ by placing the antenna on the upstairs deck rail and running the cable through a doorway. Worked pretty well, in my kitchen I went from one bar 3G 1MBPS download to 2 bars 4G/LTE and 10MBPS download, which was as good or better than I expected. I installed the directional antenna outside under the eaves of my house, and used OpenSignal app to get a rough idea of which direction to point the antenna, routed the outside cable under the eaves and used the included flat connector to come through a slider window. WORKED GREAT. Once inside I mounted the interior antenna on the slope of my interior roof, pointing down at about 45 degrees across the kitchen and living room.
Signal test after final placement was 16.2MBPS and phone shows 3 to 4 bars of LTE. Perfect - as good as I get in town on a good day.
I have used this system in my RV now for a couple of weeks. I am located on the fringe of a cell tower which will provide about 2 bars on my iphone. My cellular router will carry about a -100 to -110 signal strength. With the booster, I get 5 bars on the iphone, and my signal strength on the router will go to -68. Download speed will go from 5 megabit to 27 megabit. It can be finicky setting it up making sure you have the antennas not pointing at each other and enough distance between the internal antenna and the booster. Remember to use surge protection on the cable and electric power adapter, and antenna mast. This is an expensive electronic device, but can get fried quickly from a nearby lightning strike. Once it's setup and working correctly, it is reliable.
